Ichthyofaunal Diversity of Sikka Coast, Gulf of Kachchh, Gujarat

The vast intertidal region on the Sikka coast harbours various fertile ecosystems like mangroves, coral reefs, seaweed and sea grasses which support biota including fishes. present study aimed to document marine ichthyofaunal diversity along located northern in Gulf of Kachchh, Gujarat. During study, a total 102 fish species belonging 2 classes, 22 orders, 53 families, 72 genera were recorded from November 2021 April 2021. Eupercaria was found be dominant order (21.56%, species) followed by Clupeiformes (11.76%, 12 species), Carangiformes (10.78%, 11 species). highest number family Carangidae Mugilidae Sparidae. Out species, 97 either Least Concern or Data Deficient IUCN Red List Status, 3 VU (Vulnerable) NT (Near Threatened). Among 64% carnivores while 21% fishes herbivores planktivores rest omnivores.
